Golden rays shot up from the horizon and spread across the deep blue sky, cutting the darkness, and damping out the stars as the sun peaked over the skyline. The morning glow spread warmth across the grassy plain lands and shown brightly through east facing windows. One window in particular, cut into the wall of a simple log cabin, built just on the edge of the jungle creator of Zaladrin.

The house was small and simple, with three windows, East, North, and West, and an ornately carved wooden door set in the southern facing wall. A chimney poked out of the roof, and small, neat herb garden had been planted against the eastern wall. The growing plants now appeared to be stretching their leaves, reaching and striving to soak up the morning sun, as if they had just woken up from a long sleep.

Inside the cabin, on the edge of the jungle lived a Sha-ka'dir women. Her skin was dark grey and her horns only protruded slightly below her shoulder. The sun shining through the window flooded warmth into the cabin and the woman stirred in her sleep. After tossing and turning for a few minutes the woman lifted her self from her rather comfortable bed and stretched. Just as the herbs in her garden were stretching. Her grey skin was smooth and well cared for, and she was far thinner then her fellow Sha-ka'dir. Her ribs and hips Protruded under her skin, and her limbs were boney and lithe.

The young woman walked to a corner of her cabin and stepped into a low basin filled with warm water and a few lingering soap bubbles. Leaning down she picked up a clay jug resting next to the basin and scooped up the water around her legs. Her near-skeletal arms lifted the jug full of water and slowly poured it overhead. She stood perfectly still as the water ran down her body. When the last drop of water fell from the lip of the jug and landed on the top of her bald head she placed the jug in the spot she retrieved it from, and stepped of out the bath-basin.

She stood on a thick rug and let the air dry her body, while her long fingers ran over her hip bones. She glanced down, admiring her own body. Her stomach made a soft gurgling nose, and her fingers slide to the belly and she squelched a wave of hungry that washed over her. It had been three days since she had last eaten and she had no desire to sate herself.

When the Sha-ka'dir was dry she walked to her wardrobe and pulled out an elaborate loin cloth that fell to the floor, in the front and the back. She tied the skirt around her waist, and made a small bow, letting the excess fabric from the ties spill down her leg.

The woman again crossed her cabin, to the alter set near the foot of her bed. Various bones, candles, herbs, and ritual tools lay scattered about the slate surface of her alter. The center piece was a golden string of Teeth and beads, collected from her Family and ancestors. She slowly lowered herself onto an elaborately embroidered cushion set on the floor before her sacred space, she closed her eyes, and she began to pray.

The jungle crater of Zaladrin is like a barrage for the senses. It is overwhelmingly dark, overwhelmingly muggy, filled with millions of chitters and chatters from the various creatures, and the air is thick with the aroma of thousands of plants. It is here that the people known as the sha-ka'dir make there home and shun outsiders. Those villages that exist on the outskirts of the crater are built in the treetops and serve as watchers and a first line of defense against outsiders.

It is directly underneath one of these villages where the psychic warrior Babajanian is currently working hard on his daily training regiment. He is currently laying facedown in the jungle soil with his arms crossed behind his back and his toes pressed into the ground. As he lays there focusing his mind his body begins to raise at an angle with his toes still stuck in the dirt. He rises to two feet before slowly lowering back down until he's just an inch from the ground, and then repeats the process rising and lowering as his mind directs.

He continues his mental push-ups at an even pace until he hears a rustle in the trees above him. Down from the low branches drops a female sha-ka'dir the exact same shade of gray as him and bearing similar facial features. She wore the elaborate violet robe of the villages priesthood and a necklace of finger bones. Babajanian recognized her immediately as his twin sister Riffle.

"Hello Baba," Riffle said walking up to him. "The avatar sent me to bring you back to her."

"What does she want of me," he asked standing up and brushing the dirt of his leather armor.

"I don't know," Riffle shrugged. "But it's important. Come on."

Without another word Riffle turned, sank back on her haunches, and with one mighty leap flew up to the lowest branch of a nearby tree. Babajanian picked up his mace, a skull formed of a strange black metal with specks of silvery crystal in it, and followed his sister into the tree branches. The two hoped from branch to branch with birdlike agility, slowly gaining height and coming to the higher branches.

Before long they were leaping among the small huts of their village and found themselves passing other sha-ka'dir they were familiar with. Most of the building in the village were small huts attached to the tree branches with just enough room for it's inhabitants to live in. The one exception was located in the exact center of the village. This building was at least three times larger than any other and floated in the air without any support branch or rope.

It was this floating building that the twins made for, and after one last bound from the nearest branch, landed upon the platform that encircled the building's walls. They walked up to the door and were met by two guards dressed in leather armor similar to Babajanian's. The guards nodded to the twins and stepped aside to allow them entry into the sanctuary. They stepped into a single large room whose walls were lined with the statues of the various gods and goddesses most sacred to the village. Each statue had offerings from the townspeople for the day before it and the walls directly behind them bore the colors and tokens of each god.

The one exception was directly across from the door at the far end of the sanctuary. There a sha-ka'dir woman sat cross-legged three feet above the floor watching them with white eyes. Her skin was cracked and wrinkled though her coloring was only a little darker than the twins. Her eyes were rolled back into her head with only the whites showing and she wore long green and black robes that hung down to the ground.

"Come forth Babajanian," she commanded. Her voice was cracked and barely a whisper but as she spoke her words were echoed by another voice that boomed inside Babajanian's head.

He stepped up before her and kneeled down in a low bow until his nose touched the ground. "What do you command of me."

"You are to go to the edge of the crater," the avatar answered. "There you will the princess of the sha-ka'dir. You are to escort her to the feast of her grandmother in the city of Tla-Ka"Dir."

"What does she look like," Babajanian asked. A moment later he felt knowledge entering his head, suddenly he knew exactly what Hau-came looked liked, exactly where her cabin was, and how to find his way to Tla-Ka'Dir. "I shall not fail," he said raising to his feet.

As he left he and Riffle exchanged a goodbye in their twin language embracing and pressing their foreheads together. He left the sanctuary and set of to his own hut to ready his belongings for the long journey.

The grey woman in the purple skirt sat on her cushion, completely still. Her legs crossed, her hands folded carefully in her lap, he bony chin against her bony chest, and her soft eyelids closed. She prayed. To the gods in the heavens below and above, and to the spirits all around her. She prayed for her family, her friends and herself. She prayed for the past, and the future. She prayed for her people, and their jungle. For every Sha-ka'dir that has died, and for ever Sha-ka'dir that has yet to depart on that great journey. For

She sat their motionless and silent, until the sun has rises so high in the sky it could no long be seen through the woman's window. When she was satisfied with her prayers, her eyes opened, and her head rose. She reached across her alter with thin arms, grasping at tools with skeletal fingers.

A black candle, tall and fat, with 4 wicks forever a flame aided her in lighting the other, smaller candles that dotted the slate surface of the shrine. From the candles she lights incense that lays in holders on the alter, billowing thick, chocking smoke into the air. The smoke stung her lungs as she breathed in it, and everything became hazy.

A stone slab sat on the alter, where flowers and plants lay wilting and withering away. In many a Sha-ka'dir home are alters covered in blood. Sacrifices to The Gods must be made. Death is freedom, Death is where true power lies. And harmless animals, caught in the jungle, often paid the price. But not in this small cottage, on the edge of the creator. While this young Sha-ka'dir had more respect for the dying, then even most. She though animal sacrifice too messy. She gathers the plants in a bunch, and held them over a candle. A peaceful smile crossed her face and she hummed as she enjoyed the already dying plants flaming death.

When the flowers burned, and their ashed were neatly gather in a small bowl, the woman rose, in one fluid motion. She crossed her cabin to the door in the southern wall. Outside, she paused on her door step, and peered out across the grasslands to the east. Far in the distance Triangles could be made out dotting the horizon. Tee-pees, portable homes made of trees and animals skins, the homes of the Equillre had be constructed. The woman noted to herself, that she must make it a point to travel and meet with them, in one a coming day.

She rounded her house to her garden, and lowered herself to the ground. As she thumbed through her plant, pruning, and preening, and making sure every small weed was removed, she hummed. It was a creepy sort of hum, that seemed both joyful and somber. She enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her back, and thought to herself, about how beautiful her ribs showing through her skin must look in the high summer sun.

When she was satisfied with the state of her garden, she picked a handful of plants, carefully choosing which herbs, and flowers she liked. She placed the bundle of plant life stone slab where she placed all her plants to die. And then she leaned down and blew out every candle on her alter, except for the fat black candle with its four wicks always a flame.

Turning her back to her shrine, the woman stood and crossed her bony arms across her chest. Standing in the center of her small cabin, she wondered to herself, what to do with her day.

Babajanian awoke to sunlight filtering through the uppermost branches of the tree he sat in. He had been traveling for four days now after receiving his orders to retrieve the priestess Hau-Came. The previous night he had finally reached the crater wall and had slept in one of the trees near the edge.

He got to his feet and set off down the branches to the next tree. From this one he could see the crater wall, a huge expanse of jagged rock that stretched as far in each direction as it was possible for Babajanian to see. Luckily though the trees grew taller than the crater wall and after a few minutes of climbing he found a branch that was level with the ground. From there he was able to simply walk onto the vast plain that bordered the crater.

The sha-ka'dir had been to the plains a few times before but hadn't been there to often. He was never used to seeing as far as he could now, always his vision was blocked by the great trees that his entire life revolved around. It was almost unsettling to suddenly be able to see for miles all around.

The hut of Hau-Came was on the very edge of the crater but Babajanian had come out of the jungle several miles to the west of were he should be. He ate a quick breakfast from his rations pack and paid homage to his god before setting off at a run. at first he attempted sprinting through the grass but it turned out he was slower over open country then in the trees. It took him nearly three hours but finally he found Hau-Came's little hut. He took a deep breathe to steady himself from his long run and knocked politely.

Hau-Came let out a long, loud sigh. She peered around her cottage. She had had a stange feeling for over a week now, and it was beginning to unsettle her, though she couldn't place her finger on what it was.

She stood in front of her full length mirror reflecting upon how lonely her cottage had grown. She came to live on the edge of the Crater years ago, excited at the prospect of living near, and learning from the Equillre's pale ghosts. But so many moons had come and gone since then.

The Sha-ka'dir gazed at her own image, admiring her face and body, She leaned in close to the mirror, picking at the smallest imperfections she could find in her skin. As her thoughts drifted back over the years, she realized for the first time how much she had changed. Her hair, once falling in long dreads down her back, she now kept shaved clean to the scalp. Her darkening skin, once Flawless gray, was now covered in tattoos of waving white lines. Her body had changed most of all. Her fathers priests, in the Golden Pyramid of Tla-ka'dir had insisted she eat at least once a day. Living on her own was the freedom Hau-Came always dreamed of, and with out the watchful eyes of Priests, and nursemaids, the young Sha-ka'dir starved herself. Her body wasted away until she could easily trace any of her bones with a delicate skeletal finger. She looked sickly thin, even compared to her fellow emaciated Sha-ka'dir.

She died a few times over the years, from starvation, months with nothing more then water, and Hau-came would drift of in the night, her breathing slowing, and stopping, and she would wake up in a dream land. Surrounded by spirits, familiar friends. Though she always managed to pull herself back to her body, back to the world, and finally she would eat, if only to get back the strength dying had sapped from her.

Hau-Came was still admiring herself in the mirror, fantasizing about death, when there was a knock on her door. She glanced over her shoulder, one eyebrow raised. She wondered who was here to call upon her, that she had been expecting no company, as she crossed her small house.

She was startled to find a Sha-ka'dir on her door step, While plenty lived with in easy traveling distance of her, few would dare step even a foot out of their jungle crater. As her eyes fell on the man, she knew the feeling that had been nagging at her was not a false one. She swung her door open, and extended a long bony arm, inviting the stranger into her home.

"You stand on the doormat of Princess Hau-Came Xilbabah, Daughter of King Jarabara Quanzzi Xailbabah the Eighth. Please feel welcome here, I would offer you food..." She trailed off for a moment, Hau-Came knew it was rude not to feed her unexpected guest, and felt ashamed that as this mans Princess she could not show him proper hospitality.

She gathered herself and continued "Would you like a glass of water?"

"My princess," the warrior said dropping back onto one knee and bowing his head to her. "I am Babajainian a warrior of the village of Psychloo." With this official greeting out of the way he stood and stepped inside the hut at Hau-Came's request.

The hut was sparsely decorated as many sha'ka-dir homes were. The sole place of ornamentation was the princesses shrine, which Babajanian approved of. He always believed in giving the gods there proper due and more. For the past few days he had only given a handful of animals over to mighty Syylick. He fixed his gaze on the bony girl before him, the princess of Tla-Ka'Dir.

"I have come to inform you of the passing of your honorable grandmother," he declared stiff and formally. "I am also tasked with escorting you to The Golden City to be a part of her feasr with the rest of the royal family."

A softness seemed to settle across Hau-Cames face when she heard the news. Her grandmother had been waiting so long, and Hau-came knew, her ancestors were excited for the Elders arrival.

"Thank you Babajanian" Hau-came reached out to touch the mans shoulder " I know." she realized that her grandmothers passing must be what she had been feeling for over a week.

Hau-came glanced around her cottage, and out the window to check the time of day. "I have little to pack, I will be ready to leave as soon as you are. I just have one small task to complete first.

"You must join the Feast, as my families thanks for delivering your message so swiftly, and for escorting me back to my homecity.

As she spoke she poured water of out a painted clay jug, into a matching cup and pushed it into Babajanians hands. She gestured to a stool, in a corner near the door that she rarely sat it, with one hand, and the rug in the center of the floor with her other. "Please, sit were ever you like and rest. I hope that your trip was safe and pleasant?"

Babajainian took the cup of water gratefully bowing his head to the priestess. "I thank you for the honor of accompanying you to this sacred rite. I vow to protect you with my very life princess."

He took his seat on the stool in the corner relaxing his weary muscles after the long trek to get here. He kept his eyes on Hau-Came taking his first measure of her. He was shocked at how immaciated she was, he himself was more muscular than average sha-ka-dir but she was still nearly half his width. Her every bone was defined in a very erotic way he even thought he could see some of the bones of her spine pooking through her lower stomache. She also had a serenity to her he had scarcely felt before a peacefulness that was almost a tangable thing in the air.

"It was pleasent enough," he replied to her question. "The only trouble I found was from a few hungry preditors. I came out of the crater a few miles to the west though, I did not know the way here but for the directions my villages avatar gave me."

Hau-came packed practically nothing. She retrieved a small pouch from under her bed. The pouch was dark green, very soft leather, made from saurian skin. She dropped in it various small objects from her Alter. Candles, Stones, and most important, her string of teeth. She also neatly folded a change of cloths and placed them into the bag. Lastly she picked up a short, double edged blade. The handle was made from bone, that was so old and brown and covered in hairline fractures, it seemed more like wood, that was carved to look like bone.

She did not store the knife in her leather sack though. She deposited her luggage at Babajanians feet with out a word, expecting him to know he is expected to carry her belongings during the journey.

Hau-came's smile was soft, but the corner of her thin lips twitched as if she was trying to subdue a grin. "I am very please you made it here in one piece. You no doubt fought off every enemy with ease. You look very strong and fit... There is just one last thing I have to do." Her lips betrayed her and split into a wicked smirk. "And then I will be ready to take leave when ever you are rested."

She raised her blade to her neck, and pressed hard into her grey skin, a few drops of shining blood dribbled down the side of her throat. She took a moment to lock eyes with the Sha'kah-dir sitting in front of her, She did not want to forget his expression. Her hand darted to the side with surprising speed, the knife glided effortlessly through the soft flesh of her emaciated throat, a waterfall of thick blood, so red it was nearly black, poured down the front of body, flowing across her protruding bones like a river gurgling it way across pebbles on the steam bed.

The knife fell from her limp fingers, landing blade down in the wooden floor. While the knife stood, Hau-came fell. She tottered for a moment before sinking back on her knees. She fell face first onto the brown rug. Horrific choking and sputtering noises filled the tiny house, as she coughed, spraying blood across the floor. She gasped from breath, but only blood filled her lungs. The pool of blood the was seeping out from her body was quickly growing larger. After when felt like an eternity, her body lay still, she stopped trying to catch her breath, and her heart stopped beating.

Babajainian sat upon Hau-Came's rug relaxing from his long journey. He felt good having delivered his message to the princess and was glad to have a chance to rest. He watched her pack up a few of her things not particularly interested in her posessions. He was more interested in her then in anything she had. The thought that he would be spending the next month with her made him impatient to be off.

He was lost in thought when she suddenly slit her own throat with the knife in her hand. His heart literally stopped and he sat frozen while she fell. It wasn't till her limp body hit the floor that he sprung to his feet screaming incoherently. He was at her side in half a second lifting her telekinetically into his arms.

He shook her ragdoll body as he screamed at her to wake up. There was blood everywhere from huge cut in Hau-Came's throat. Babajainian presses his hand to the cut in an effort to stop the bleeding, but noticed he couldn't feel her pulse. He dropped her lifeless body and took a few steps back and began pacing trying to think of a way to fix this.

Her spirit lifted from her body to a standing position, her feet hovered a few inches above the ground. She stood their smiling and stretched her arms straight up for a few moments. She glanced at her Alter, now ethereal and wavering, instead of the concrete Alter she left behind in the real world. It glowed faintly, casting a ghost light across the Cabin. Hau-came looked down upon Babjanian, kneeling over her corpse and giggled inaudibly. Her spirit turned to face the western wall of her home, and she began to run, a full out sprint. She sprinted through seamlessly through the wooden wall and continued running. She ran and ran and ran, for what seemed an eternity. The circle of Tee-pees that were her destination grew bigger at an agonizingly slow pace.

Once she reached circular tents, it felt as though she had only been running for a few seconds. She could see hazy spirits floating around the very small encampment, only 5 small tee-pees, souls of the living. Their were also many animal spirits frolicking through the grass, unknown to the equillre living here.

Hau-came walked directly through the center of the camp, to the biggest tent, painted with pictures of animals, that matched the spirits gathered all around it. Hau-came let herself in through the flap, completely uninvited.

A White Equillre sat on the ground behind a small fire. His eyes were closed and he hummed quietly to himself. Hau-came's spirit stood directly behind the meditating shaman and whispered in his ear. "I must travel to the city of my people. Please watch over my home. Peace and health to you and yours Pale Ghost." When the man woke from his meditative trance, he would send a fledgling to watch over the cabin, of the Ashen Ghost.

Hau-came exited the Tee-pee and pat the head of an incorporeal deer that came up to sniff her leg. Once again she broke into a full out sprint. She ran for hours and hours once again, arriving at her home in only seconds. She did not bother with the door, simply glided through the wall, and back into her body.

The jagged wound in her throat sealed slowly back together. The color returned to her skin, though her blood still pooled on the carpet. Her lifeless body twitched, and Hau-came suddenly sat stalk upright. She coughed violently spraying blood out across the room. Clearing her throat she wiped a trickle of red from her lips, and smiled at Babajanian, before bursting into uproarious laughter.

Babajainian nearly jumped out of his skin when Hau-came sat up alive and well.  He had been thinking of the terrible punishments he would get for letting a member of the royal family die on his watch.  He knew the avatar could tear your mind from your body and devour it, the digestion process took hundreds of years and supposedly felt like a mixture of the worst nightmare imaginable and Alzheimer's disease.  It was said that the royal family could do even worse things with your soul.

So yes he had been a little scared.  And after his initial shock at seeing Hau-came return from the dead he could have jumped for joy.  He fell down to his knees and bowed lower to her.

"Princess I thought you were dead," he nearly cried with joy.

Her head thrown back, Hau cames laughter boomed from her throat, much louder then one would eve expect from such a small frail looking woman. When her uproar finally trickled to an end, She looked over at her new gaurdsman, and a smile still on her face and pat him on the head. "Have no fear Babajanian. She slid her nimble fingers under his shoulder and helped him to his feet.  "we're certainly going to have an eventful trip. Maybe on the way I will get to seek council with my grandmother. Finally dead." Hau came sighed a peaceful sigh. "She deserves it. She held on to this world so long."

The Sha'kah-dir Stood up then looked down on her carpet and grimaced. "The down side." She mutter pointedly. Then rolled the mat up and brought it outside the house. She leaned the soiled rug against the wall of her house and stretched in the sun, Cracking her neck. "When would you like to leave. Do you need to sleep first? Eat? Bathe? "

"No princess I'm ready to leave as soon as you are," Babajainian declared. He had rested up the night before so as to be ready for anything. He hadn't been ready for the person he was supposed to protect killing herself, but it certainly made his job easier if she couldn't die.

He stepped outside with her running his eyes up and down here emaciated body. He had never seen a woman with a body like hers, even his sister couldn't compare to her, though she would always have a special place in his heart. They had been together as lovers since they hit puberty and they participated in the twin ritual of bonding.

"If we leave now we can make it to the jungle by nightfall," He smiled at her awkwardly. "Then we can find a nice tree branch to bunk down in together."

A smile rested on Hau-cames lips, though it was rare to find her with out a smile. She silently laughed at her new companion. She knew it was a terrible practice joke. But she loved the look on peoples faces. she could hardly help herself. It had Been a fair amount of time since she was graced with the company of one of her own race. The equillre didn't find her sense of humor the least bit funny.

Making sure she had everything she needed for her trip home, she handed a small sack to Babajainian with out a word. Ushering him out the door she took one last look around her tiny home, unsure of how long it would be before she returned.

Hau-came closed the door and fluidly slipped a minuscule danger from under her skirt like loin cloth, out of a strap around her upped thigh. She pushed the tip into her finger hard and roughly dragged it across her fingerprint. She did the same thing to her middle finger. When blood dripped from the jagged wounds. She used her fingers to paint a design on her door. She chanted while she did this. The whole process only took about a minute.

She nodded to herself in confirmation and turned to her travel companion. She stuck her fingers in her mouth sucking them clean, though they continued to bleed for a while. She continued licking the wounds as they walked towards the jungle.

They could see it in the distance. It wouldn't take long to get there. And they wouldn't even have to make their ways to the floor of the crater. They'd creep in on the branches. If they tried they could make their way all the way to the capitol with out ever touching the ground. The  trees grow so densely.

Babajainian shouldered his pack as well as the princesses small bag and took off toward the jungle at an even trot. He felt the tremendous weight of his responsibility weighing on his back. Guarding Hau-Came was the most important task he had ever been given and he was determined to keep her safe. Even though the bony woman had been living out here perfectly fine he couldn't help feel exposed out of the cover of the trees.

Though it was apparent that Hau-Came was a strange woman among sha-kha'dir. Few of their kind choose to ever leave leave their lands, and those who did left to seek adventure and exotic lands. To leave yet still live within sight of the jungle was something Babajainian had never heard of. And that wasn't the only strange thing about his companion.

"So princess," he asked casually. "How did you do what you did in your hut. You died only to come back, excuse me for saying this but it seems you'd have little use for a bodyguard if you could come back to life."

"You are quiet literally my Body Guard, my dear protector. I learned from the Equillre to access the spirit world, and with the help of my ancestors, I have also learned to return. But I must have a body to return to. You see?... besides, who enjoys traveling alone?"

They had reached the edge. Hau-came didn't see what the big deal about it was really. It was the same world on this side. The edge of the crater dropped off with a sheer cliff, huge jagged rocks jutted out from the grassy plane, hanging over the edge. Trees grew thin and tall from the floor of the crater, their enormous leaves blocking the sun grew well above ground level. betraying the 100's foot drop that awaited past the Rocky crag.

The Jungle was pitch dark under the foliage cover, but Hau-came knew her eyes would adjust from being in the sunny grasslands. The screeches and howls of the jungles various inhabitants could already be heard. the Sha-ka'dir took a deep breathe, her head swimming in nostalgia from the wet scent of Decay.

She Tried to think of the last time she made the short walk toward her homelands. She couldn't quiet remember. A sudden anticipation filled her and she couldn't wait for the first glimpse of the Three faced Golden step pyramid that grew out of the middle of a lake, so tall it almost reached the tree tops. As the Highest of Royal Priests, it is where her Family, and her Ancestors had called home. it was where she grew up.

Babajainian breathed in a deep breath of the jungle air. It was good to be back in the cool shadow of the jungle foliage. For some reason being out in the sun and open of the plain had made him uncomfortable. Maybe sha-kah'dir weren't supposed to stray to far out of their lands. Though here was Hau'came living out on the plains within sight of her true home, and he himself had traveled to Zaladria and seen the separatist tribe.

"How long have you lived out on the plains," he asked his traveling companion. "I haven't ever heard of members of our race going to learn with the equillre."

"I was just a girl.. I was lucky to be a third child. We were all raised as priests, but while my brother and sister had to stay close to the throne, I was afforded the opportunity to train on the road, an ambassador of sorts.. but I never got very far. As soon as I left the crater I fell in love with the equillre. Their simple free way of life, their rituals open and spiritual, not ridgid and full of strict tradition. I made friends, and family.. I didn't want to leave, eventually I sent my gaurds away, back to the city. I was comfortable on the plains. They made me a teepee, I traveled with them for a few seasons, learning from their Shamans and teaching them about our people, about our Ancestors. They taught me about spirits.. the world's blend you know.. Ancestors.. spirits.. our people don't know how much is really out there.. how powerful we could be... "

Hau-came shrugged and laughed as if what she were saying were incredibly casual. The two sha-ka'dir we're picking there way from limb to limb high in the canopy, they made a beeline for the center of the jungle, it seemed to get thicker, darker, and cooler every yard deeper they traveled.

"Anyway, my father was furious of course, when my gaurds returned with out me. They were sent back to retrieve me, but I only sent a letter back. Sorry! Staying!"
She laughed again, happily remembering her youth rebelion.
"During high summer the tribes all meet.. Dak'fle it's amazing! An entire city appears seemingly over night. Teepees as far as the eye can see.. music, fire, rituals.. markets and trading.. it's really something to see! I met an Aur'alkerri there. Who had also traveled with the pale ghosts. We hung out some, our adopted families were trying to get us to.. uh.. share a teepee.. But that would have been absurd.. we did hang out though. And he helped my build my house on the edge of the jungle before he left."

They crept through the foliage with out missing a beat. Their journey was smooth and eventless, slowly they made their way lower towards the ground as they moved forward.

"So that's me I guess.. I've veen living there for a couple years now.. it's a nice quiet life, relaxed, nothing like the High Pyramid. Sometimes the Equillre visit me.. Sha-ka'dir rarely do.."
