Babajanian stopped on the road and looked upon the sign before him. Many other passersby continued on the way both entering and leaving the city. The sign declared in elegant lettering Welcome to Rastanar. The Sha-ka'dir man sifted through his bag extracting a piece of animal skin with an intricate drawing on it. The skin depicted a man who greatly resemble Babajanian standing in the middle of a road before a Welcome to Rastanar sign consulting something in his hand.

He felt a chill run up his spine as he reflected on the animal skin. It had been painted by a man in his home village named Usutu. Usutu had been gifted with the ability of precognition by the tribal gods. Whatever he painted came true. He had given this painting to Babajanian since it concerned him and the day he received he had set off on his journey to the city before him.

The painting also depicted overhead the image of Babajanian’s personal god Sylakar. He turned to the sky and saw nothing but a round white cloud. If the Sha-ka'dir squinted the cloud almost resembled Sylakar but the wind quickly whisked it away. Babajanian put the painting away took a deep breath and continued on into the city.

As she let out a slow breath the air formed a cloud of fog in front of her face, it slowly floated away and dissipated into nothing. Torches lining the wall were the only Source of light, in the large tunnel. The Small gray cat girl leaning against the wall underneath a small alcove blended in well with the shadows, Her skin tight black outfit furthering ability to sink into the darkness, Her tail flicked back and forth and she twirled a short dagger in her paw.

The underground was alive with people, going up and down the streets, running errands before dinner, or making there way into the tavern to her left to start a night of heavy drinking. Skantra just waited there, her back leaning against the cold, almost damp stone wall of the tunnel, one leg bent with her foot paw also against the wall, she peered through the shadows, her gray eyes piercing through the heavy dark and watching as the other citizens of the underground went along there business. She stood for an hour or so, being disturbed by no one. She watched a rather heavy human women dragging her 5 children along as she tried to get them to there home before night fully settled. she noticed in the far end of the tunnel a dwarven couple bickering in hushed voices for a while before the female stormed off and the husband made his way into the tavern shouting the barkeep for an ale. 5 minutes before night fall, Skantra watched a young Aur'Alkerri, still of toddler age run across the tunnel, followed by her father, The feline laughed silently to her self, then watched the young girl run back the way she came, still evading her fathers long arms out stretched trying to catch her. A third time Skantra watched the child run the length of the tunnel, this time stepping out of her Dingy corner and right infront of the girl. Skantra was barely taller then this child but her sudden appearance slowed the kid down enough for her father to catch her. "Thanks" was all the man muttered as he scurried away and disappeared around the corner.

A few second later, A loud booming echoed through the halls of the underground. the giant Clock tower in the center of the city was ticking off the 20th hour of the day, signaling night fall. Skantra sighed happily to her self, All the children now safe in there homes, it was her tiurn to roam the city, The families living in the underground, while comfortable enough to walk the street in the dark of day, don't dare leave the safety of there homes when night fell over the tunnels, This was the time The thieves and dealers came out to play. It was as if the last tick of the clock on this hour was a magical spell, the instant the last echo died from the rocky caves and passageways, every dirty, lying, Scoundrel suddenly appeared on the street, People looking for drugs, money, sex, stolen goods, illegal spell components, and other Not so law abiding items could now be found on every corner.

Skantra Strolled down the tunnel she had been stalking, now feeling much more at home, she made her way through tunnel after tunnel, knowing the passageways better then her own fur markings, finally she stood in front of two large wooden door, pushing one open she slipped inside of the entrance room of the Thieves guild. It appeared as nothing more then a large tavern, but Skantra knew deep within the guild sat the King of Thieves, resting in a large throne, surrounded by gold, and liquor, and nearly naked women. Skant slid into a chair she lost her self deep in thought as she imagined her self sitting in that thrown, She rested her elbows on the table. One day, she would be the king of Thieves, and all of this, the entire underground. would be hers.

She had kicked two stray puppies, terrified fourteen children, rendered one shop owner unconscious with the smell of her rancid breath alone, and she had had the guard called on her as her presence had been mistaken by the church for a demonic assault. It had only been one hour since she arrived in Rastanaar, her giant mobile hut clunking to a noisy, fiery halt just outside the gates. She shrugged off the last stubborn guard and tromped off from the group of men who seemed more than fine with letting her go now that they had been privy to Jyobanyja's fragrant presence. She grumbled to herself about the incompetence of youth, the flippant whims of society, the drafty night air, old knees she would probably need to shore up with well oiled springs, and kittens. Oh how she groaned of kittens.

"Filthy little fluff covered monsters!" She spat vehemently both figuratively and literally, the actual spit looking black and caustic in the dust. "With there obnoxious relentless mewling as they prance about utterly USELESS and all the damn fools gather and squeal "oh look at the cute kitten!" Never mind it has no brains and never will as that cute face will spoil any potential it has to become something worthwhile. Pah! Relying on image as an easy substitute for actual substance. I'm glad I did not fall into the same trap. That's right, GLAD!" She shouted at a passing man who overheard her and gave her a strange look. "Yes I was once a beautiful lass and I'm glad it's all gone now! Will you be so content with old age? Huh?! Or will you spend your elder days bitching and whining about your lost youth? That's right! You had best run! Old age is right behind you! Run, fool, RUN!!"

She quieted down to a rumbling grumble as the night bell tolled and she stepped inside yet another shop looking for what only the gods knew. "What is this piss?!" She exploded once more after a few minutes of evaluating what was on the shelves. "These are your wares? A few oils and powdered herbs? And you advetise yourself a chemist? If there is a hell dark enough for you may you be spirited off to it with no delay!" And with those words Jyobanyja left the startled man in a cloud of stench, fear, and bemusement. She stepped back out into the new night and sneered disdainfully at the city at large. A cap blew off some part of her metal frame and cursing she adjusted three different valves to stop the escaping superhot steam.

Babajanian roamed the city at his leisure. It was by far the largest city he had ever been in. He had passed by Nomfoodle on his way here but had kept his distance. He wasn’t a fan of the small creatures or their pitiful machines. But this city was different. It was full of life and activity. Merchants were set up in their stalls selling various wares to passersby. The people of the town strolled by speaking happily to each other. All in all it seemed a nice place.

The Sha-ka’dir spied a group of children ahead. They were all tossing stones onto the roof of a squat building. Their aim seemed to be a ball stuck in the roof’s gutter. Despite the number of stones on the roof already the ball hadn’t budged. Babajanian felt for these youngsters. He was a nice enough guy when not stalking people to sacrifice to Sylakar, and he had already sacrificed a pair of dwarf drifters he’d meet on the road today. As he passed the children he focused on the ball and twitched his index finger. The ball toppled out of the gutter and down to the joyous children below.

As Babajanian continued down the road an acrid smell reached his nostrils. It was the smell of smoke and machinery. Displeasure began to bubble inside Babajanian; he hated machines. The gods had gifted mortals with the mind, a key to nearly limitless power. Yet instead of mastering that power so many used their brains to create cheap toys. Turning a corner Babajanian saw the source of the smell. It was a heap of machinery beige machinery on legs sitting in the middle of the street.

“What is this monstrosity?” Babajanian said to no one in particular.

"Filthy stink of self indulgence with no thought or motivation completely mindless like ants scurrying about on a preprogrammed path to gather endless gathering then to die a wasted existence utterly useless no cause but continued existence for the sake of it just... pathetic." Jyobanyja mumbled out an angry rant as she hobbled and tromped and the noise her wrinkled mouth made was as constant yet as chaotic as the clank, shing, hiss of her body's metal frame. Disgusted with the city and its people at the moment and all their ineffieciency and mindlessness she was on a path back to the relative comfort of her dwelling. The mobile home was about as hectic for all its many parts but at least with this Jyobanyja could break down and detail each piece and the useful purpose thereof. She stopped to see yet another stranger among all the others and to hear this one ask what monstrosity was before him. She spat into the dust again and trotted forward a few more steps.

"This beast is my home and it serves a hell of a lot more fuctions and purpose in general than you will likely see in your entire life." She spat again. "What beetle asks of the elephant what it is and what purpose it has?" And by the last statement Jyobanyja meant for the strangers name, not for that she cared to know it beyond likely insulting him further or putting him in his place wherever that might be. There was something about her that reminded her of her old people, the ones that had exiled her for thinking differently. This thought alone set her up to hate this stranger more than the average. Somewhere inside her one organ or another cramped in pain, calling out for attention as it was likely close to failing. She would likely be spending most of the night designing new compensation for this faulty flesh. It was not unusual for her age but it still irritated her.

Babajanian stared at this terrible creature in disgust. He had to take a step back or be overpowered by its stench. No wonder the machine was so horrible its owner was perhaps the most distressing being Babajanian had yet come across in his travels. Perhaps this was why he was here to exterminate this monster.

“Anything that would offer shelter to a creature like you would be better off as scrap metal,” Babajanian spat back. “Not that it’s far off from that. And my name is Babajanian what do they call you besides monster, demon, or hag?”

Jyobanyja spat into the dust yet again and sneered ay the one before her with as much distain as she apparently had for kittens.
"Just that and much much more but never by name. Be damned to the coldest darkest hell if I gave two cahoots and a gasket aboput what ya think of that. You make a living off insulting people, kid, or you have a job? If the later then get back to being a good little statistic and if the former, well, two cahoots and a gasket. Wonder the tune you'd be singin if the world were as it should be and I got proper respect in the first place. Damn you youth thinkin you haver it all figured out anyway, you really don't know squat. I'd bet my whole fortune you'd be acting different if I was some sweet young thing of your race whatever that is you hormone riddled puppet." And with these words she spat into the dust once more in puctuation to her hateful spiel.

“Respect,” Babajanian growled. He extended his finger toward the newest glob of spittle this disgusting thing had produced. It stopped before hitting the ground and, with a flick of his finger, he sent it back into the creature’s twisted face. “Only the most grotesque world imaginable would respect a creature such as you and that pitiful thing you call a home. You’re race and age matter not it’s your insignificant mind that makes you so detestable. Why don’t you crawl back to whatever hole you came from and bury yourself and your ‘home.'"

Jyobanyja hardly flinched when her own spit was shot back at her and she made no move to avoid it. The phlem did little to make her appearance any more hideous. She cracked a grin that lacked most of her original teeth as if Babajanian had just made a great joke. But she wasn't laughing, probably was incapable of doing so all things considered.

"Grotesque. Insignificant. Your perspectives are just as warped as I imagined them to be. And what lies you tell yourself! Race and age do not matter, pah!! Consider this, at your age you are abundant in ignorance and sorely lacking in experience. Yet you claim this matters not? Crum! It is clear enough in the way you talk your assumptions are all based on your culture and odd upbringing within your race and I'd wager you think your mind is free, yes? You are bound by your own mind a slave to your own misconceptions. The truth is if you only had half a mind as I you would understand the true meaning of insignificance." Her voice rose and got quieter alternately as she lashed out with her worm-like tongue. Now she was quieter as she took two shambling steps closer but no less intense and in her good unclouded left eye was an uncanny sharpness made all the more noticable by the lazy half blind one.

"There is nothing wrong with my mind, not in the way you are thinking. It's sharper now than ever it was when I was like you and I shudder to remember my own deluded youth reflected now in your dull eyes. You want to speak to me as if I am a brainless hatchling of some slimy clutch? Go get a few years behind you, then perhaps your words will be worth their weight in dung at least." Seemingly having had enough of Babajanian Jyobanyja began turning away which looked as if it required some effort on her part. But she did not point herself toward her beige dwelling, instead she angled toward a string of bars and taverns, perhaps intent on drink, perhaps not. She never bothered to wipe the spit away.
